All You Need Is Love
Welcome to Creatin' With Kirsteen and welcome to the Stampin' Up! Grand Vacation Achievers Blog Hop for January.
If you get off track at any time, the full line up of blogs is at the bottom of this post and can help you move along from blog to blog.

This month our theme is 'All You Need Is Love'.
I've done a few St.Valentines and 'Love' themed projects lately...but I am SO not a 'hearts' or lovey-dovey girl...
And, although Stampin' Up! has awesome St.Valentines appropriate product, the thought of making MORE St.Valentines stuff kind've made me panic...So, I went 'Wedding' for our hop theme this month.

For the card I revisited a favorite fancy fold and used the Botanical Builder Framelits and Blusing Bride Glimmer Paper and card stock.

This cute matching favor box was made using the Cutie Pie Thinlits Dies .

For this heart decor piece I again used the Botanical Builder Framelits to cut lots of Blushing Bride flowers which I then layered onto a heart I cut from Window Sheet.
I found this old frame under my desk (there's LOT's of treasure under there hahaha!) and thought it would be perfect to hang the heart on - kind've rustic?
The bows were all made using the Easy Bows technique.

Some flowers cut from Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper, and a few Pear Pizzaz leaves, breaks up what had become a bit monotone, and gives the piece a little bling - along with pearls and a touch of Wink Of Stella on the centre of the flowers.

I then stamped an image from the Balloon Builders Stamp Set and layered it on some more glimmer paper before popping it onto the bottom of the frame.

My card for the hop this month is a really simple one - just a heart, a bow and a 'Love You' - sometimes that's all you need right?

For the card I used the BLOOMIN' LOVE stamp set and elements from the LOVE BLOSSOMS Embellishment Kit - There are so many little goodies in that baggie of embellishments!!

Hmmm, what to do with all the rest?  How about make a little decor piece to give to a friend to show them you care? Well, when I say little I mean 8"x8"
Those little Rose Red bows come in the embellishment pack - but the Blushing Bride bow was made using the fork technique - you can see the 'Easy Bows' video HERE

LARGE Fancy Fold Bon-Voyage card

1/19/2016

I really struggle making custom cards.
You never know if the design you have in your head is what the person you are designing for actually wants.
This one was for a couple from Australia and Canada, who moved to Texas and are now moving to Arizona!!
It needed to be signed by a lot of folks so I added the fold over flap on the right hand side for extra space. The card is actually 8" square, so a large card :)
I used the idea from THIS card and my tutorial but of course increased the size...so it had to be made in panels.

Double Slider Gift Card Holder

1/18/2016

This past weekend The KILTS (my downline team) had our January meeting.
We swapped card ideas and a few of us demo'd some techniques.
I decided to demo a double slider - usually a double slider, that ends up being a 'normal' size card, requires 12" wide cardstock and....as usual I was planning my demo on Saturday - and no 12"x12" card stock - well not enough to supply 11 folk attending the meeting.
So - I re-visited the design and made it fit on a regular 8 1/2" x 11" piece of card stock. The overall finished project is 5" x 3 1/2" and so will still fit in a regular envelope :)
This time I added a pocket for a gift card on one of the sliding pieces.
Do you want to come to our KILTS meetings? NOW is a great time to join our group...

Happy 29th again (70th) Birthday Dad!

1/16/2016

Wishing my Daddy a Happy Happy 70th Birthday!
This awesome man has been a rock throughout my life.
He's always been there to encourage and support me through hard and happy times, through childhood, teenage years and as an adult.
(Don't tell Alistair but there are still times I'll call Dad when I need to know some car/mechanical/electrical stuff 😂)
Picture
So, he deserves a special Birthday Card! This is what I came up with using the 'Number of Years' stamp set.
The card wishes a Happy Birthday 29 AGAIN...but the wheel can be turned around to 70!
Picture

And then the inside uses the Party Pop-up Thinlits for a wee bit of pop on the inside!

Here's how I made the wheel part...

I LOVE YOU THIS MUCH Slider card

I am SO EXCITED about this card....you know when you see a stamp set and IMMEDIATELY you know what you want to make - but the logistics just go around and around in your head?
Well THAT'S what happened when I saw the Bear Hugs Stamp Set....I knew I wanted to make a card that the arms of the bear stretched out as if to say "I Love you THIS much"
I took LOTS of photos as I was experimenting with various spinny/turn-around/slider/pop-up contraptions so I could show you how - so there's a slideshow below the photos.
What turned out best is essentially a mini double slider inside the card.
Ok - for those who immediately think ice cream when they read 'slider' - you need to watch more crafting videos ;) Here's one -
