More Shaker cards....

6/30/2016

Here are a few more shaker card ideas.
All inspired by cake decorations we were creating yesterday - well, I didn't actually make many fondant decorations yesterday - I was on 'make fondant' duty.
I am quite proud of the fact that when I first started almost a year ago it took me 4 hours to make about 3 batches! Yesterday I made 16 batches in 1 hr 45 minutes! But - I was exhausted!!! Ha!
This card was inspired by a Pink Sprinkles Baby Shower cake

Here is what I used to make the Shower Shaker card:
This one by a nautical themed Birthday cake. I cut the fish from the By The Shore Designer paper

Thanks for stopping by.

A tilt of the head...

6/27/2016

Don't you think any animal looks SO CUTE with a little tilt of their heads?
Already cute animals get even more cute!
There are so many animals you can make with the Foxy Friends Bundle - a stamp set with matching punch.
We used this bundle at The KILTS meeting this past weekend, and made a few projects with it.
The first was a little raccoon - with a titled head - it is as though he is asking 'How're you?' ' How's things?'
And so I paired him up with a sentiment from the Sitting Here stamp set that seemed so appropriate for him with his little head tilt whilst sitting on a tree stump...

Light-up Baubles on a Christmas Card

6/21/2016

I know, I am going a bit crazy with the light up / circuit cards - but I AM having so much fun with them that it's hard to break away.

And as I work on one card another idea pops into my head and I then have to make it - after all who would want to go do housework when you can play with bulbs and batteries? ;)

This card came from an idea I had when I saw the cactus in the Birthday Fiesta Stamp Set.

Living in Texas, I have wanted to make a Christmas Card using a cactus as a Christmas Tree for a while. Stampin' Up! has had several cactus stamps over the years, but I do like to use current product in classes.

So this set was ideal for a swap card I made last week (you haven't seen it yet - the swap doesn't close for a few days) and for my upcoming Christmas in July Card Class (click on Classes and Events under the logo above for more information)

I used the Chibitronics circuits again - and punched holes behind the baubles and the star. You can't see too well in the photos - but the baubles have red bulbs behind them and the star has a yellow one.

I could put something else on the card to indicate where to press other than 'here', but I would probably have to print it out on the computer.

You Light Up My Life Fireflies

6/20/2016

Today I have been playing with some mini electronic circuits to make light up cards.

At dusk this time of year, we have LOTS of Fireflies dancing around in the park behind our house.

That's where the inspiration for this card came from.

I punched small holes at the fireflies bottoms and added little chibi-tronics bulbs behind them.

When the little 'here' firefly is pressed the fireflies in the jar light up!

I also heat embossed the lid of the jar with Silver Embossing Powder - although it's hard to see in the photos. My Stamp Room was unusually bright today and I had trouble taking photos in focus :(

This was so much fun - I can't wait to try other 'light-up' cards! The new catalog is full of ideas!

Come on back tomorrow to see the Christmas card I made :)

Go Big - or go to Hallmark? No way!

6/17/2016

With Father's Day coming up - well in two days, our son finally decided what he wanted to do for a Father's Day card (Yes - I know - he has a Mother with a Stamp Room full of paper crafting product but it takes him DAYS to make a decision). He needed to go to Hallmark! :-O

I showed him a few cards in my stamp room from previous Card Buffet Classes, but he wanted a larger card.

So, my math brain went into gear and since he loved the fold flat tool box card I made HERE we decided that would be a good one to revamp. It was either that or go to Hallmark!

In the end he made a different card as this one took me too long!
No - he has no patience - not when the UEFA 2016 is on the TV.
So, this is from me to my hubby :)

For the large version I simply doubled all the measurements in the tutorial - which is available FREE HERE.

Because this one is so much larger the brads didn't look quite right so I changed the front to a latch and padlock. The padlock is cut freehand from Silver Card Stock and then sponged with Black stazon
Picture
I still used Guy Greetings Stamp set for the sentiments but the tools in that set were no longer in proportion, so I did hand cut them from silver and crumb cake card stock. I drew on the wood grain effect and sponged the 'metal' with black stazon

It still folds flat to put in an envelope too.

Here are the two 'cards' next to one another. The large one is in a 13" x 10" envelope and the small one in a regular 4 3/8" x 5 3/4" envelope.

A quick bright tie card for Father's Day

6/17/2016

This is a quick card for Father's Day - with some bright colours for the colour loving men in your life ;)

It's made using the tie from the Baby's First Framelit set and the Playful Palette Paper Stack, along with the New In-Color Emerald Envy.

To make the dimesioned (is that a word?) banner - stamp and punch your sentiment then cut the ends off at an angle. Punch another and using Stampin' Dimensionals adhere the stamped one on top of it.
