Welcome to the Creatin' With Kirsteen stop on the December Stampin Friends Blog Hop!
The theme this month is 'New Year'.
Weren't Sue's projects awesome? You can navigate back to her blog, or forward to Maureen's... just click on the previous or next name at the bottom of this post to hop forward or back (you are at #4).
Back in 2013 when Kristen C and I came up with the idea of the Eclipse technique, we never could have imagined how popular it would become! Now the technique is used far and wide. Of course the introduction of framelits and thinlits has made it much easier! (read the original post HERE) and now there is no real need for the tutorial I created way back then using the stamp-a-majig (But you can still click here for the free download)
I spent so much time on my 3D for this post I needed to make a very quick New Year Card - and the Eclipse technique is an easy and quick one. I used the Large Number Framelits and the Year Of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper, along with my Go-to Basic Sentiment Stamp Set - Teeny Tiny Wishes, finishing it of with a Silver Bow from the Mini Gift Bows.
(Sorry about the photo quality. We are still in an apartment after loosing the ground floor of our house and my studio during the Hurricane Harvey flood here in Houston, and there's not really any good light in the apartment...)

I glued a 3 3/4" x 5" piece of the designer paper onto a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Whisper White, then drew a pencil line across at about 1", lined the framelits up on the line on the magnetic platform and ran it through the Big Shot. Then take the 'negative' of your framelits and glue that onto a card base (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") Use either Stampin' Dimensionals or Foam Strips to adhere your numbers back onto the card - remember to glue the inside of your 0 and 8 back in :)
When I saw a Wine Bottle Gift Box in a local store last month, and thought 'Oh - I could make that'!!
Little did I realize it was going to be a mathematical challenge! lol
But, I decided to give it a try and here is the finished project....the lid is attached and flips over and tucks behind the 2018 panel.
