Welcome to the Grand Vacation Achievers Blog Hop for November.
This month our theme is 'Seeing 3D'.
We are sure that you will find some incredible inspiration from the projects that you'll see as you hop along.

You may be starting the hop here or you may have come from Georgie's blog. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup is at the bottom of this post and can help you move along from blog to blog (You are at 21 - Kirsteen Gill)

As you may know - I LOVE making 3D projects :)
This project has been on my mind for a while - well since the Holiday Catalog was launched.
So, I FINALLY got myself organized and made it.
A 3D shaker frame that also lights up ;)
Picture
For the images I used the Sleigh Ride Edgelits and an image from the 'To You & Yours Too' stamp set. I cut the images from Vellum, Silver Glimmer Paper, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter Paper, Silver Foil sheets and then heat embossed the image from 'To You & Yours Too' with Silver Embossing Powder and fussy cut the image - so the whole thing is varying degrees of silver :)
I sandwiched some white fluff and silver glitter between the front glass and a layer of Window Sheet, so the frame can be shaken and it 'snows' a little like a square snow globe!
I purchased the shadow frame from the local big craft store - it is 5" x 7"
Here is a close up....
Picture
I had some string lights left over from making lanterns so I wound the string over the inside back part of the frame, cut a hole for the switch to come through and attached that to the back - so the lights are easily switched on and off...

Thinking outside your framelits

Today I have a video and a few card samples showing you how to think outside your framelits.
When you have an image that is slightly larger in one area than the size of your framelit, you don't always have to change size or go find another completely different shape - you can use this technique and give your cards a little 'How did she do that?' ;)

Using this technique the stamped image remains part of the card stock that the framelit is used to cut out - especially useful for tails and ears :)

Here are my samples.....
Here is the video showing you how to do this technique.....
I am appreciative of your comments and feedback - please click below to leave one :)

If you have a phtogrpah of a project you made using this technique - please include it - I would love to see it :)

Spider Web Doilies 139622 Price: $4.50 (24)
So, you ordered the Spider Web Doilies and they went on back order quickly :(
Have you just gotten them?
Sure you can keep them for next year - after all there will be a halloween!
Or...make some snowball decorations....
Picture
The photographs don't do this ornament justice - it is white and all sparkly with glitter!
To make this I smooshed versamark all over the black side of the web doilies and then heat embossed with white embossing powder. I then folded 10 in half and glued them together in the middle, running some 1/8" ribon up the middle too.
I then sprayed with spray adhesive and dumped the 'ball' in glitter...so it really is VERY sparkly!
Then I added a Silver ribbon bow and some silver cording trim

Welcome to the Stampin Friends November Blog Hop!
We will be hopping on the third Thursday every month, with a different theme to inspire you each time :)
The theme for November is 'Thanksgiving'.
If you just arrived from Andrea's Blog, thank you for continuing with the hop!
You can continue on the blog hop in a loop by clicking on the Next button below.

This month we are excited to have Awesome Guest Hoppers that you should definitely check out!
Wynne Grob, Kim Smith, and Steph Jandrow

Thanksgiving in Scotland is different than in the US. Usually at the end of 'harvest' time (Sept/Oct) we have a 'Harvest Festival'. In school and Church we sing songs of Thanks and 'celebrate' the Harvest by bringing in food to Church or school that is then donated to local charities or to the Homeless.

Even though we live in the US now, we have never done the whole 'turkey' meal, for us that's a Christmas tradition. In the past we have chosen a country and then spent the day as a family cooking a meal from that country - from scratch!

But, my projects for the hop do embrace the American Thanksgiving - firstly a card with a punch art Pumpkin Pie on the front, but open it up and a turkey pops up!

I saw THIS (click HERE) card several months ago (I can't resist a pop-up card!) and wanted to have a go with Stampin' Up! products. Mine uses the heart punch for the tail feathers. The pumpkin filling on the pie is Tangelo Twist. Even though Stampin' Up! has several different orange colours, this has become my favourite over the fall season.
To go along with the turkey I made a Thanksgiving table setting. The small Pilgrim hat is made from a K-cup and is about 2" and the larger one is a plant pot I painted black and is about 10". It's difficult to see the sizes in the photographs.
Do you love crafty supplies?!?
If so, comment on all 12 posts in this hop and find everyone's favourtie colour. Then email Elizabeth happystamper508@gmail.com before Sunday 22nd Nov 2015 to be entered into a drawing.
What do you get?!?
In addition to enjoying all of this group's creations, you'll be entered to win a fun crafty present from every one of the bloggers!
That's 12 crafty presents! Just a little thank you for your time!

I love making little gifts for my team!
But this week because I injured my back badly I really haven't been in a crafty mood.
These post-it note and calendar holders were quick and easy but turned out cute don't you think?
I'm looking forward to giving them out and spending time with my awesome KILTS ladies whilst we are here in Dallas!

Holiday Card Swap - light up card

11/10/2015

At our recent KILTS team retreat we swapped Holiday Cards.
This was my offering...using the Festive Fireplace Stamp Set.
Picture
But with a little twist - use the Festive Fireside framelits to create an aperture and stamp on velum then pop a battery operated tea light inside the card and the fire in the fireplace lights up and flickers :)

Christmas Lanterns - and a rare photo of Dad crafting!

11/7/2015

Last weekend was our KILTS group retreat.

It was an eventful weekend! With hundreds of grasshoppers (it's a cloud of grasshoppers but they were all on the ground!), flocks of birds (and I mean like a scene from a horror movie), thunderstorms, heavy (very heavy) rain, flash floods, power cuts and tornado warnings!

But, as crafters do, we laughed our way through it all. Because really there was not much else we could do!

Wantt o join us on our next retreat? Why not become a Stamping' Up! Demonstrator? CLICK HERE for more info.

Anyway...if you saw the previous post with my Dad punching vellum bags - here is what they were for.

We did a table favor exchange and this was mine, a Christmas lantern.

I also made a Hanukkah version but forgot to take a photograph I'll need to get the two recipients to send me some!
