Welcome to our International World Card Making Day Blog Hop!
Isn't this such a fantastic way to celebrate this event?
There's lots of amazing inspiration for you throughout the hop.
You are currently visiting my blog (Kirsteen Gill) in the USA
and you will be hopping around the globe for craft inspiration!
There is a list of blogs at the end of this page which will help you to move along from blog to blog.

Today I decided to share a Christmas Card.
I LOVE the old fashioned Santa from the 'Father Christmas' Stamp Set and decided that the main image needed to have pride of place on it's own - so I made a card with a little different fold - this time a Centre Step Card.

  • Cut card base 4 1/4" x 11"
  • With the short side at the top, put the card into your paper trimmer with left edge at 1" and cut from 1" on guide to 10".
  • Move card along so left edge is at 3 1/4" and cut from 1" to 10" again.
  • Turn card stock around and place long edge at top.
  • Score all the way down the card at 5 1/2"
  • Now move the edge to 1" and score from to edge to cut line and then further down from cut line to edge.
  • Repeat at 2" then again at 9" and 10"
Thanks for visiting my blog today!

Welcome to the Stampin Friends September Blog Hop!

The theme for September is 'Back to School' or 'Fall'

Our house is kind've quiet when back to school time comes around. Eilidh is in Savannah and lives there year round now, and Ewan has been in summer football and band practice almost all the vacation - so back to school is really just mom taxi at a different time ;)

And there's no 'Fall' here in Houston to inspire me - so I was a bit stuck a few weeks ago when I started to think about my projects.

For those not in the US, we have Marching Band during the Fall, although they start rehearsing in the summer holidays. As well as travelling to several competitions, the Band travels to all the School Football games and plays in the bleachers during the game and then do a Half-time show on the field. Our son Ewan plays trumpet in the band. Now - Cinco Ranch High School has a BIG band - we send off 8 school buses full of kids and a HUGE truck trailer each time they go anywhere!

A couple of weeks ago I had my first Chaperone session. AND MY FIRST EVER ride on an iconic yellow school bus!!!

I used that trip as inspiration to make a Thank You card for our bus drivers. And, with all the back packs getting thrown around as we got on and off buses I decided to make a little treat bag in the shape of a backpack.
Picture
Do you recognize all the shapes I used to assemble the bus? There's a list at the bottom of this post...but one I want to show you close up - I used the new Cable Knit Dynamic Embossing Folder for the tyres :)

For the back pack I used a Petite Cafe bag.

Quick and Easy Halloween Card

9/10/2016

This was a very quick, easy card on my card buffet this week.
I used the Halloween Night Specialty Designer Paper for the houses.
If you cut at 4" wide and then trim across the bottom of each line of houses you can make a LOT of cards
?
The Paisley Framelits and 'Spooky Fun' stamp set are used for the ghosties!
Quick, easy and reproducible!

Here is a list of what you need to make this card....remember, you can click on 'Supply List' to print the list out :)

Inspiration from Pinterest :)

When scouring Pinterest for some mojo, a card popped up by Kay Miller that just blew me away.
It was so elegant and with simple, clean lines-exactly what I love.
But, it did not use Stampin' Up! Product...and you know me - a stickler for using our awesome products on projects.
So, I made it my mission one day last month to CASE it but use SU product...here is the result.

I absolutely LOVE how this card turned out - and although a little framelit heavy, my Card Buffet attendees loved it too :)
Here is what I used to make it:

Faith, Hope, Love....and fingers crossed some LUCK!

It's been a few weeks.....
And a colourful wheel on our desktop computer, and an iPhone app that keeps crashing...but FINALLY, and HOPEFULLY, I am posting again. :)
Lots of things have been going on over the last few weeks whilst I haven't been able to access my blog...
Plans for our daughter to travel to Hong Kong for the fall semester and our son's football and band commitments have taken up a lot of our time, but also (and you are not reading 'more importantly - well maybe on a couple of these last few days as Mom-taxi)...

Today I am sharing a project and card I made for The Stampin' Friends Blog Hop last month - that never made it to 'live publish' :( The theme for last month was 'Hope' and at first I had no idea what to create until I made a card for card buffet and was inspired by that.

So - now that I can post - the photo jinx has decided to visit. :( This card and project look so elegant in real life - but in the photos they look kind've blah. I may try again when we get a bit of sunshine.

I used the Jar of Love and Letters For You stamp sets and the Flourish, Large Letters and Everyday Jars Thinlits on both the card and the framed project. I really enjoyed making these - and was a little frustrated I couldn't share on the hop - but I love them both and now need to find a spot on my Stamp Room wall for the frame.

On to tomrrow - and with some Faith, Hope and a little computer Love (and some luck), I will post the Card Buffet card that inspired these projects....

Have a great day!
K
