Mediterranean Cruise 3D Swap

5/29/2016

So, along with helping me with my cruise card swaps, my Mum and Dad happily (?) helped me with my 3D swaps.
For this swap I revisited a baggie that was made as retreat table gifts (You can see that post, and the instructions HERE)
I wanted to have something that could fold flat for traveling - so this bag was perfect. I added a baggie of pink/black and white candies in the bag - but I forgot to take a photo of those!
The paper is the new Pop of Pink designer paper - avaiable in the new 2016-17 Stampin' Up! catalog, and the new Pop of Paradise stamp set.

Mediterranean Cruise Card Swap

5/21/2016

I'm sitting in London Heathrow Airport waiting on our flight to Barcelona! It feels like we've been waiting forever for the day to arrive, but at the same time I can't believe it's here already!

My parents arrived in Katy a couple of weeks ago. They are staying to look after our son whilst Alistair and I travel. I'm truly blessed that in doing something I love - card making, I was able to earn this Stampin' Up! trip and even more blessed that my parents could fly over to help us out.

And their help hasn't stopped at them flying over. They've both been crazily helping me make my swaps. I procrastinated a long time about the design. I wanted to use something from the new catalog but once the preorder went live I wasn't very inspired. That's not to say the new catalog isn't great-it's awesome! I just had no mojo.

Anyway, I finally designed and made this card. No new colours but a new stamp set 'Pop of Paradise' and new Swirly Scribbles thinlits. I added some Wink of Stella behind the swirls.

Today I am getting ready to leave for the Stampin' Up! Med Cruise!
I am so excited, but crazy busy at the same time!
So, I am revisiting an old favorite - the Stampin' Up! Owl Punch - making it into a Nurse and a very simple Get Well card.
The stamp set 'Teeny Tiny Wishes' is my all time favorite - with every sentiment needed in it.
This is a new banner punch that will be available in June in the new catalog.

My 3d project is actually a previous card design.
Although I made the tool box card HERE to fold flat for mailing, you probably wouldn't want to fold this Dr's bag version because it doesn't look as cute folded - it can be though, but the surprise pop-up
Nurse Owl and balloons are much cuter when you open the bag from closed rather than flat :)

Here is one of the table gifts from our retreat last weekend.

Filled with goodies for a nice cuppa :)

I had posted this baggie on my Facebook page (follow me on Facebook here) and several folk are asking how to make it.
Since my Mum and Dad are visiting from Scotland, I have been pretty busy - so here is a VERY quick sketch of where to make the score lines....
Start with an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of either card stock or designer paper
Then score at 2" and 6 1/2"
Picture
Turn the paper 90 degrees so you long end is now at the top. Score at 3/4", 4 1/2", 6 1/2" and also 10 1/4"
Picture
Now score the diagonal lines - from 2 1/2" score to the vertical line as in the picture below.
Then score from the 8 1/2" to the vertical line as in the picture below.
Rotate 180 degrees and repeat.
Picture
Fold in those two long score lines.
Then as you fold the others the bag will take shape and look like this from the inside:
Picture
You will need 2 pieces of 1 1/2" x 4 1/2" if you want to add contrast strips for the top of the bag...score along the middle of those at 3/4".

I put a magnet under the front one of mine and added a magnet under the ribbon on the tab I used to create a 'closure' or 'clasp' - but you could just add ribbon and a button or even a piece of elastic and a brad :)

I hope that helps some of you who were asking for directions - especially those who wanted to make it for this weekend!

Kx :)
