Bundle of Love Baby Gift Bag

4/24/2017

Another sneak peek of OnStage display projects.

The Bundle of Love Desigber Paper screams 'BABY' so I made a few baby projects for the display. ALL of the Designer Paper you see in this project is from the same pack.

I love making 3Ds and the gift bag punch board and this layout has become my go to recently as it's so easy to replicate. I used 12"x9" paper and followed the instructions on the board for the L size bag.

The stamp set is Moon Baby which is carrying over :) and I coloured in using the watercolor pencils.

What to do with the Lovely Laurel Dies?

4/22/2017

When I received the big box of secret new catalog goodies to create projects for display at Shreveport I tore into it with excitement! When I got in there and saw the product chosen for me I knew I was facing a bit of a creative challenge ;)

I was particularly stumped by the Lovely Laurel Thinlits. Pieces of what looked like a wreath but had a break in the centre...a pop up for a card inside maybe? I wanted to not do something Fall or Christmas orientated...surely that's what they were for?

I was also stumped by Washi Tape! I am NOT a Washi Tape user...I very rarely add some to a card...so, lets up the challenge and use Washi Tape AND the thinlits on a card that's kind've pink and Spring coloured!

I used the Washi Tape down the sides of the card adding a strip of the new Lemon Lime Twist Cardstock. I cut the wreath Faldo from that Cardstock and sponged around the edges to give it a little depth as the leaves felt a bit flat. I wanted to add some flowers to the wreath but I wasn't given the matching stamp set so I used some flowers from the Jar of Love stamp set and embossed with white embossing powder, cut with the matching framelits. I did not use the banner from the Lovely Laurel set as I couldn't figure out how to assemble it to make the pop up.

Anyway here is is what I ended up with....and would you believe it? The sampl in the new catalog is also pink!!!

Then I thought...ok...that's fine for the inside of a card, but what about the outside of this card? What would that look like using the same product. So this is what I did for the outside of this card...it uses all the same product with the addition of the Stitched Shape Framelits and some Silver Thread.

Shreveport Display Projects-Christmas items

4/21/2017

Over the next few weeks I'll share some of the projects I made for the Display Boards at Stampin' Up!'s Shreveport OnStage event.

I was so honoured to be chosen, but it was hard work to get things done so close to my back surgery. But I was determined to meet the commitment and anyway I work better under stress ;)

This was one of my favourite set of projects using the new Hearts and Stars wooden elements, the Boxwood Wreath embellishments and the Bundle of Love Designer Paper-which is Blushing Bride and Soft Sky on the other side to the Gold so I wanted to show a non baby or wedding use for it.

Unfortunately the Cutie Pie thinlits and the gold Wink of Stella are not carrying over :(

The Boxwood Wreaths are on wire wrapped around and around and come in the size shown on the card...so to make the larger version I unwound a few and then rewound to make a larger wreath, and to do the tree I straightened them then glued onto the Cutie Pie pie shape.

I used the Cherry Cobbler Enamel Shapes to break up the green a little.

Welcome to the Creatin' With Kirsteen stop on the April Stampin Friends Blog Hop!

The theme this month is 'Birthdays and Celebrations'.

Weren't Maureen's projects awesome? You can navigate back to her blog, or forward to Melissa's using the links at the bottom of the page (you are at Kirsteen Gill) Just click on the previous or next name to hop forward or back.

We do have a guest blogger this month - and you won't want to miss  Jen Cerizo's projects.

As you may know I have not been in my stamp room for a whilee and my new catalog pre-order has been sitting in the dining room since it arrived. I had a few friends over yesterday and they helped me break in to the box. At once in I fell in love with the Delightful Daisy Designer Paper and so I decided to use it and revisit a bag design I have been using for several project lately....ooops - did I tell you I also LOVE the new Daisy punch? When I saw it in the new catalog I did think 'What? ANOTHER flower punch?' but boy I am loving it and think it will be a frequent shape on my projects soon! Sorry for the differing tones in the photos below - the one on an angle was taken into the sun - once it's a certain time in my room I can't escape the sunshine - until the sun goes behind the next house - then it's dark! :)

Then I used the bag as inspiration for my card....usually I work the other way around - but making the bag - a design I am used to, helped inspire me for the card design.

I cut 3 of the new Happy Birthday Thinlit - then glued them together with Night of Navy on the bottom then Daffodil Delight then Whisper White on top. To glue the layers together I dabbed glue all over the back of the Daffodil Delight and Whisper White, then smooshed the excess off onto scrap grid paper, then it's easy to line up with the layer below with a little bit of wiggle room before it sets - no messing with sponges which I know has become a popular way of gluing these fine thinlit designs. Then to attach it to the card I wanted a little height - so I took glue dots and rolled them into a 'boogers' then put them on the back of the thinlit :) Here are a few photos to help....
The Daffodil Delight ribbon is the 1/4" Double Stitched ribbon - I had it on the card but I felt the cross stitch was too busy - so I removed it...at the end of the piece you cut, loosen the ends of the white thread. Then pull one end and the ribbon will ruffle up - keep pulling and the thread will eventually pull out. Repeat this for the other piece of thread. Here are a few photos to help you.....
I hope you enjoyed your stop here and found some inspiration! You can hop on along to Melissa's blog by clicking on her name below. (you are at Kirsteen Gill)

A Me Update.....

4/17/2017

I know a few of you must be wondering where I went to....If you are not a follower of my Facebook page you wouldn't be aware of what's been happening over the last several weeks. So here's a wee update.

On the morning of my March Stamp camp (6th March) I awakened with a little hip pain - but over the course of the morning it became a LOT of hip pain. My lovely friend Jeanette came to my aid and sped me off to the local ER where my hubby Alistair met us.

After various pain meds I was given very strong intravenous pain meds that finally allowed me to lie down long enough so scans and x-rays could be done. After ruling out various issues like a twisted ovary and perforated bowel the Dr's decided my pain was from a bulge from a disc in my lower spine. I was transferred to Memorial Hermann at Memorial City and after various issues (too many to mention and a VERY long story) I had spinal surgery on March 17th (Yes I was an inpatient all that time!!) I was discharged home on the 18th. My recuperation from the spinal surgery has been reasonably uncomplicated however the hip pain still remains and I am experiencing some pain and sensory changes as a result of an epidural injection I was given to 'help' the hip pain. My mobility is still slow, painful an exhausting. Follow up was today and now I am being referred for further MRI's and testing, as well as to the Pain Management team. So we keep plodding - or rather hobbling on.

With the help of my great friend Leslie, members of my downline, and a walker frame I managed to attend OnStage last week in Shreveport. I know I probably should not have gone - but I was chosen to be a display stamper and that opportunity may never come again - so I wanted to be there!

I will share some of my display projects - which use items from the new catalog, in the next few weeks :)

So - that's where I am at - I haven't fallen off the face of the planet - although with the pain meds I have had I sure felt like I was floating round a lot :) And, I will be back to share projects over the next few weeks :)

THURSDAY is the Stampin Friends April Blog Hop....so please join me for that and hop along for some Birthday and Celebration themed projects!

With much love, and THANK YOU to all who sent cards and well wishes!

K xx
