Back from vacation....
Countdown to Convention.
I know - I went AWOL!
We have been on a family vacation, and I just got so stretched
towards our leaving date, that I didn't schedule any posts - sorry!
We went on a 'little' trip in California.
Initially we had planned to fly - but prices were really high,
so then we decided to drive.
Planning got underway.
I thought it would be a great idea to drive up to Salt Lake City
with the children and Alistair - and let them see what a lovely place it is -
then head to North CA and down the coast before back
to Houston along the dreaded I10.
Then I discovered that we would be driving for 3 days
- and STILL NOT BE OUT OF TEXAS!!
So, at that point I got a little disgruntled, and then
- an email from some fare watcher site I signed up for
- telling me flights were WAY down! So, we flew!
(No brainer really - the thought of 5 days in the car
with the kiddoes, before we even reached CA, did not appeal!)
We flew to San Diego and stayed in Coronado for a couple of days.
Eilidh went a bit crazy there - Zach Efron was in our hotel for a wedding.

It took her hours to get up the courage to ask for a photograph with him,
but she did - and he made her day by chatting for a few minutes with her!
Then, off to Disney.
After that we went in to LA and had a couple of days there...
...the Hollywood Sign, Sunset Blvd, Warner Bros tour, etc.
From LA we headed up to Half Moon Bay for a bit of pampering and R&R.
The boys played golf, Eilidh and I went to the spa.
We had s'mores at our fire pit on the patio, watched the Pacific waves and
felt a bit homesick when we went for Fish and Chips at a local eatery.
Then we headed to San Francisco for a few days,
before Sacramento and white water rafting for 2 days!
Definitely a highlight for me!
Here are a couple of photos.
This is us heading in to 'Troublemaker'

I love this one of Ewan - this is how we all looked
when we managed to stay in the raft!

Rafting was so much fun, we will definitely go back!
After camping and rafting we headed to Palm Desert for some more R&R
and lots of sunshine - but no humidity,
before heading back to San Diego and our flight home to Houston.
CA is so varied, and HUGE.
We obviously still have LOADS more to see,
but for now I have HUNDREDS of photos to make into a scrapbook!
Now I am back home, it is time to turn my attention to the
New Catalog and Convention!
Workin' out a WOW!
Whilst in SLC I am presenting a WOW! at a
Late Night Stampers pre-convention event.
So, I have had to get my head in gear.
This is what I have come up with.
A couple of months ago I saw a card in a local store that used a base,
similar to the Petal Cone Die, to make a Pop-up Card.
So, I decided to try one myself....using all SU product.
The 'closed' card fits inside a standard SU envelope!
I do have a tutorial, and will post it after I have done the presentation,
so be patient and come back on the 12th!!
