Hydrangeas : A Hate / Love Relationship

I really dislike Hydrangeas.....really, REALLY!

I think it is because when I growing up a neighbour of ours had a HUGE Blue Hydrangea bush at the front gate. As a wee lassie I had to pass it to get onto the footpath and up to the front door. I remember that bush being covered in Bumble Bees....big, BIG, Bumble Bees! I'm sure it was only a few bees and only for a few days in the year....but in my mind there were dozens, and all the time....I get the heebie-jeebies just thinking of it!

When Stampin' Up! launched the 2010/11 Catalog last year, and I saw the Level 1 Hostess set 'Because I Care'.....I CRINGED!

because_i_care

At Convention I received lots of beautiful swaps made with this set....which was great, because I couldn't find any mojo where this set was concerned, heck I couldn't even mount the stamps!

(Getting the picture? I REALLY dislike Hydrangeas!)

But.....fast forward to the end of last month. Sue, one of the fabulous ladies that come along to my Stamp Camps (I am astounded she does - she is one VERY talented lady, I'm in awe of her beautiful work!) showed me THIS (click here) card she made, and I fell in love!  I asked if I could C.A.S.E. it, she said of course, and this is the result......

Here is what I used:

Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack #118309

Basic Pearls #119247

Top Note Die #113463

Curly Label Punch #119851

Marina Mist Satin Ribbon #119751

All Holidays Stamp Set #114916

Ink:

Marina Mist #119668

Baha Breeze #111833

Pear Pizzaz #119784

Card Stock:

Marina Mist #119682

Pear Pizzaz #119795

Whisper White #100730

And, of course, the 'Because I Care' Stamp Set, (#118384)

Which........I may like a little!

I punched lots of the little 4 sided flower images using the Itty Bitty Bits punch in Whisper White, sponged them in Baha Breeze, curled them up by rubbing in the centre of each with my bone folder, then sponged the tips with Marina Mist.

I used pins to adhere each one to half a polystyrene / foam ball, then covered each pin head with a little Basic Pearl.

Now to make a little box to post it in!

Thank you Kirsteen for letting me know about your site to see how this Beautiful Card was made. I love Hydrangea flowers. My Grandmother Sophie age 97 has a big bush of these in front of her picture window. She is still able at her age to be able to go out and take care of her flowers. I just love these flowers. She told me to come out and get a start off of hers. I think I had better do that soon. Thanks for sharing how you made it. :0) Cindy
