Lollie Pumpkin

Whilst at retreat I made this little 3D pumpkin.

This is a super easy little project -

A lot of WOW,  for little work!!

pumpkin2_kgill

To make the pumkpin:

I used Pumpkin Pie Cardstock...

4 pieces of each size

8" x 2 1/2"

8 x 2 1/4"

8" x 2"

8" x 1 3/4"

The next step is the time consuming part....

Score each along the 8" side at every 1" starting at 1/2"

(so 1/2", 1 1/2", 2 1/2", 3 1/2" etc)

Flip the card over and score at every 1"

inbetween the other score lines

(so 1", 2", 3" etc)

Now take fold all your card up - lke a concertina.

Take two of the same size and stick them

end to end, and also the other ends too...so you

get a ring of folded cardstock.

Punch 16 circles of Pumkpin Pie card - I did a 1 3/8",

put glue all over one circle as you use them.

Push the concertina down in the middle and you will

get a circle of folds -

put the gluey circle in the middle of the folded circle

and hold until the glue sets.

Do this again on the back.

Sponge all the edges with pumpkin pie ink.

Repeat until you have 8 scored and folded 'lollie' / concertina

circles.

Start with the largest and glue them together..

I put glue on those punched circles in the middle.

Then, progressively add circles to make

the shape of the pumkpin.

To make the ribbon spiral

twist Grosgrain around a wooden dowel rod

and bake in an oven at 250° for 20 minutes

then cool and slide it off.

The leaves were made using the Gently Falling

Stamp set in SU holiday mini.

I stamped them, cut them out and then sponged

around the edges!

The stalk is a 1 1/2" x 2" Early Espresso card stock

that I rolled around a toothpick.

I then pierced a hole in the top of the pumpkin

and pushed it into the gap.

I really enjoyed making this project -

it is really easy!

I think I may make a few more to put around

the house during the fall! At least

they don't go mouldy like the

real mini pumpkins!

I am not too sure if you realize that when your newsletter is received one can just barley read it. The printing is too light in colour. It wasn't until I clicked on to make a comment that I discovered the blog is just so lovely and bringt and easy to read. It appears that is what I should have been doing all the time.   I just love this pumpkin. Really enjoying the newsletters.   Thank you. Betty K.
_____Hiya Betty!
___I am so glad you liked this project! Unfortunately, there isn't anything I can do about the email text - my website has such a dark background that I have to use pale text, and Feedburner and Google Reader simply lift that text and put it in a blank email....to help you I have added, at the top of each email upsate, a link to click on to take you to the post if you are having trouble reading it.  I know how frustraing it is...I am so sorry! :o) K

I also love the pumpkin! It sounds so easy to make, I think I might try to do one for my Thanksgiving table.
Yes, the email text is pale. I used to highlight the text to read it, but, since you put the link in the top, I don't mind clicking on it to go to your post.  I love reading what you post so don't mind going to your website to read it. I look forward to your emails so I know when you have posted another great project. Thank you for sharing all you do.

This pumpkin is certainly a winner. Although it looks time comsuming to complete, it looks like something I could accomplish. Thanks for a super unique idea.

I really liked this pumpkin you made at retreat and want to thank you for sharing the directions.  It turned out so cute.  I still can't believe the ribbon was baked to hold the curly.  Looks just super on the pumpkin, the leaves look almost real.  Great job on such a neat project.
